This summer we're bringing back popular shows from our archives

Caldwell's Big Reds

Karl and Marcia are joined by John Caldwell, AKA The God of Wine, to talk about his big luxurious Napa reds. Then Karl talks about a rather unknown French appellation--Coteaux du Languedoc--that's starting to deliver some good wines.  Be the first on your block to look for them.  And Renee Rousseau of Hollywood tries to Stump the Sommelier.  Brian Mahoney turns us on to three darn good wines--an '05 Taft Street Pinot Noir for under $20, an '05 Alexander Valley Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon blend, and the biggie--the '04 Joseph Phelpps Insignia.  Marcia does a recipe for the cooking challenged with only 6 indredients--Crab Cakes.  And she pairs it with an UnOaked Iron Horse Chardonnay.

Silver Oak Sophisticates

Meet with Daniel Baron, Director of Wine Making at Silver Oak Cellars and Twomey Cellars in Napa Valley, home of an almost cult following of their Cabernet Sauvignons, Merlots, and Pinot Noirs!  Karl answers a listener's question about the difference between Pouilly Fume and Poully Fuisse, a mystery to many.  Karl and Mahoney rate three well-priced wines you could buy today on the "Save The World 10 point System," including a 2006 Smith Madrone Spring Mountain Reisling, a 2004 Columbia Crest Grand Estates Merlot, and a Charles Cimicky Grenache/Shiraz Blend.  Marcia's recipe this week is Chutney Chicken, a bit of exotica.
